Stockdale sacked by Blyth Spartans as club takeover confirmed

Blyth Spartans manager David Stockdale has been relieved of his duties, with a takeover of the club confirmed.

Stockdale has been in the role for little over a month, taking over from Nobby Solano in mid-September after the club's poor start to the season.
However, he has been unable to turn their fortunes around, with Spartans currently a point adrift at the foot of the Northern Premier League table.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Stockdale, who previously enjoyed a playing career which spanned more than two decades, won his first permanent game in charge but lost the next four.
That run included successive home defeats to Basford United and Stockton Town in league and cup.
Taking to social media, Stockdale said that the decision was "gutting", but confirmed that he would seek a return to management in the near future.
News of Stockdale's departure comes amidst a confirmed takeover of the club by a newly-formed consortium led by local businessman Martin Trinder.
Outgoing owner Irfan Liaquat said that parties across Europe, Asia and the United States had expressed an interest in buying the club but that handing the reins to Trinder's consortium was in its best interest.
In an open letter to supporters, he added: "[The club] have a mixture of proven business knowledge, community driven individuals, fan engagement and financial stability, which will all play a big part to ensure the ongoing success and stability of the football club.
"These are all local Blyth people behind the takeover which was a big factor in my decision. There is power in unity, and there is power in numbers.
"I want to assure you that this decision comes from a place of love for the club and its future.
"I will always cherish the memories we have created together, and I hope to see you continue to support the team with passion and dedication.
"Thank you for being such an integral part of this journey. I look forward to witnessing the club’s future successes."
Spartans are next in action on Saturday away at Ilkeston Town, who currently find themselves in the play-off places.
It is unclear whether a new manager will be in place before that fixture.
