Goalscoring keeper Rogan Ravenhill rescues point for Matlock

41 goals were scored across Matchday 5 in the Northern Premier League, but young goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill stole the headlines as he fired in a late header to earn Matlock Town a point against Lancaster City.

Matlock travelled to unbeaten Lancaster off the back of an 8-0 defeat at the hands of Worksop Town and, when captain Connor O’Grady saw red 20 minutes in, it looked to be another tough outing for Nicky Law’s side.

However, the Gladiators dug in and, despite going a goal down early in the second half, found themselves with a chance to equalise in the 96th minute when they won a corner.

Up went the 18-year-old Barnsley loanee, who nodded home from the set-piece to earn his side only their second point of the season.

Matlock remain at the foot of the table on goal difference, behind newly-promoted Prescot Cables.

However, they will take a much-needed boost of confidence into their home game against Leek Town on Monday, thanks in large part to the heroics of their young shot-stopper.
