Gladiators bring in ex-Spennymoor full-back

Former Spennymoor Town full-back Keenan Ferguson has joined Matlock Town.

The talented defender spent time in the academies of Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur in his younger days before joining Boston after starring during a pre-season trial in 2021.

Ferguson went on to become a mainstay for the Pilgrims during his debut campaign, operating on the right and left as they made it to the National League North play-off final.

The 24-year-old went on to join Spennymoor in June 2023 and made over 25 competitive appearances for the club.

Ferguson made his first Gladiators start on Saturday as they picked up their second point of the season with a dramatic 1-1 draw at Lancaster City.

Trailing 1-0 and down to 10 men following Connor O'Grady's red card midway through the first half, Nicky Law's side grabbed a late leveller as on-loan Barnsley goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill headed home a corner in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The club remain rooted to the foot of the Northern Premier League table but remain active on the recruitment front.

They have revealed that two further signings have already been made, but the identities of the players will not be announced until they receive international clearance.
