Hednesford Town sign experienced goalkeeper

Hednesford Town have announced the arrival of experienced goalkeeper Tony Breeden from Spalding United.

The 36-year-old joins the Pitmen as one of the most successful and experienced shot-stoppers on the non-league scene.

His career has seen him play across both the National League and National League North, counting Tamworth, Leamington, Solihull Moors and Kidderminster as some of his previous clubs.

"I've not been this excited to come to somewhere for a while," Breeden said.

"I'm one of the older heads, so I'll hopefully try and help the boys move up the league. The target is to go up by any means necessary, whether that's winning the league or [via] the play-offs."

On his new signing, manager Gavin Hurren said: "Tony is a top class goalkeeper who has always been on my radar during my time in management.

"When his availability became clear, I jumped at the chance to sign him as his wealth of experience, as well as being an outstanding goalkeeper, meant it was a no-brainer.

"I have known Tony personally for years, and his values and ethos are both the same as mine and what we are building here at the club.

"Tony will help with the building of the culture we are looking to implement here, which is an important part of the direction the club is going."

Breeden could make his debut for the Pitmen this weekend when they travel north to face Wythenshawe.
