Ex-Owls midfielder to boost Hednesford's survival bid

Former Sheffield Wednesday starlet Lewis Farmer has joined Pitching In NPL West Division strugglers Hednesford Town.

A goal-scoring midfielder during his time with the Owls, Farmer arrives at the Pitmen following a short stint at Midland Football League side Northwich Victoria.

Farmer linked up with Vics earlier this year after spending time at Workington, and went on to make a total of six appearances for the club.

Subject to registration, he will be eligible to make his home debut for the Pitmen against Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday night.

Ahead of that fixture at Keys Park, the club find themselves five points from safety, despite a 1-0 win at 1874 Northwich on Saturday.

On his arrival, Hednesford boss Paul Moore said: “Lewis is a quality player and been schooled well at pro level.

"He, like so many lads, lost a little faith in the football process and began enjoying his football again at Vics. I noticed him playing against 1874 and, after further good scout reports, feel Lewis is what we want at our football club.

"He has great close control, non-stop energy, great link-up play and an eye for goal. He is a great addition now and for the future of Hednesford Town FC."
