Tim Grice finds new home after Leek Town exit
Newcastle Town have signed former Leek Town forward Tim Grice.
Grice joins the NPL West Division side having broken numerous records at Leek, who secured promotion to the Northern Premier League's top division last season.
He became their record appearance-maker and all-time top goalscorer, netting over 250 times for the Blues.
Grice recently played his 500th and final game forLeek, having given 13 years of unbroken service to his former club following a move from NWCFL First Division side Eccleshall in September 2011.
Now, the 35-year-old will link up with former manager Neil Baker, who he played for at Leek.
Baker said: “We are delighted to be able to bring someone of Gricey’s calibre into the side.
"He will add a lot to the team, he is a very good lad to have around the place, and he is eager to help our young lads out.
"Having worked with him at Leek, as soon as I heard he was available, I had to try and get him here at Newcastle.”
The striker started out at Stoke City's academy and was also on the books of Aston Villa.
Grice moved to play locally, having stints at Wolstanton United and Alsager Town before getting his breakthrough at Leek.
On the move, he said: "I'm looking forward to a new adventure at Newcastle. Linking back up with Neil Baker was the driving force [behind the move].
“He knows how I play, and it's always a bonus when you have history with the manager.”
