Prolific forward makes hometown move to Gainsborough

Gainsborough Trinity have announced the signing of Jack McMenemy on a dual-registration basis with Lincoln United.

The 26-year-old striker will make the step up to feature for the Holy Blues, after making 85 appearances for the United Counties League outfit, where he has tallied 67 goal involvements, including eight goals this season.

During his time at the Whites, he helped them reach the FA Vase semi-final last season, bowing out on penalties against Romford.

A former Lincoln City Academy player, he has experience of this level from his time at Grantham Town and Cleethorpes Town.

On joining Gainsborough Trinity, McMenemy said: "It’s an honour to play for my hometown club and a chance I couldn’t turn down.

“[I'm] really grateful to Lincoln United for allowing me to make the step up, the FA Vase run last year was a massive highlight from my time with the Whites, and memories that will live long in the memory.

“I can’t wait to get started now, with Gainsborough.”

Gainsborough Trinity manager Russ Wilcox added: "I am delighted to bring Jack to the club.

“We know all about him, with him being a local lad, and have watched his development closely. He is joining a very together group. And we are delighted to have him on board.”

McMenemy will go into contention to make his debut for the Holy Blues in their next fixture away at Whitby Town in the NPL on Tuesday evening.
