New defender for Stalybridge Celtic

Experienced central defender Jonathan Hunt has joined Stalybridge Celtic.

The former Curzon Ashton captain is perhaps best-known for his seven-year spell at the Nash, making over 300 appearances in the process.

He helped his former club to back-to-back promotions out of the Northern Premier League.

He subsequently left Curzon Ashton in 2019 to join Ashton United.

For the last two years, Hunt has played his football for Bury, making just short of a century of appearances as they won the NWCFL First Division North.

Discussing the impact of his new signing, Stalybridge boss James Kinsey said: “Jono is going to bring a lot of experience to the group which we are delighted with.

"He’s had a great career in non-league football and he is keen to come and help us be successful here.

“He’s local which is a big plus for the club and he’s shown in training that he’s a winner. We’re looking forward to working with him.”
