Mark Beesley named new FC United of Manchester boss

FC United of Manchester have appointed former Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley as their new boss.

Beesley arrives having resigned from his position at the National League North side less than a week prior.

He was manager for just under three years at the Yellows and spent a total of eight years at the club, acting as understudy to Paul Carden for many seasons.

Whilst at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, he took charge of 139 games, winning 59 of them, and helped the club secure promotion from the Northern Premier League via the play-offs during the 2022/23 season.

He went on to lead the club to a top-half finish during their debut campaign at Step 2.

Beesley takes over from Neil Reynolds, who departed the club on September 11 after just under six years in charge.

The 43-year-old will be joined at Broadhurst Park by David Raven, who was assistant manager for much of Beesley's time as manager at Warrington Town.

FC United chairman Nick Boom said: “On behalf of the club, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Mark. We are confident that his experience and vision will guide us to the success we all seek.

“The recruitment process was rigorous, and Mark stood out as the ideal candidate to lead the club into the next chapter.”

On joining the club, Beesley said: “I’m delighted to be joining and I’m excited about this new challenge.

“I’ve always admired the club’s community spirit and the connection between the fans and the team. I know how passionate the fanbase is, having been on the opposite side during some of our battles together during my time at Warrington.

“Although the start of the season has been difficult, I believe in the quality of the squad and know that the team is capable of much more than what the current table shows.

“The priority is getting us back on track, and I look forward to working with the players and staff to make it happen.”

Beesley arrives at a FC United side who are winless in all competitions since their opening day 1-0 victory at Morpeth Town.

Their most recent outing ended in a 1-1 draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Matlock Town, with the Reds forced to come from behind to rescue a point through Adam Le Fondre.

Beesley's first game in the dugout for his new side will be away at Hyde United on September 28.
