Hebburn Town make exciting double addition
Hebburn Town continue to bolster their ranks ahead of their first season at Step 3, with the return of last season's loanee Leo Robinson and signing of young goalkeeper Callum Dobson.
Central midfielder Robinson arrives from National League side Hartlepool on a permanent basis.
The 18-year-old was a regular in Hartlepool’s youth sides and made his first appearances in senior football during the 2023/24 season while on loan at Redcar Athletic and then Hebburn.
He made 16 appearances for the Hornets, scoring four goals and helping the club to the NPL East Division title.
On his return, Robinson said: “I am delighted to sign for Hebburn.
“I loved my time there last season, with a great bunch of lads and management team. I am really looking forward to getting started.”
On bringing Robinson back to the Hebburn Sports and Social Ground, manager Daniel Moore said: “When he arrived on loan last year, he gave the squad extra energy and made a telling contribution to what we achieved.
“He’s got a very good understanding of the game and fits into how we want to play, and I’ve enjoyed seeing him develop.
“My job now is to give him that belief to kick on and enjoy himself.”
Also arriving at the NPL newcomers is 21-year-old goalkeeper Callum Dobson.
Dobson arrives from South Shields, where he progressed from their academy and signed a professional deal last summer.
Since then, he has enjoyed loan spells at Boldon CA and Newcastle Blue Star before subsequently moving onto pastures new at Hebburn, where he has been on trial in recent weeks.
Goalkeeping coach Carl Morris said: “Callum has come in during pre-season and he has everything we were looking for in a goalkeeper, as well as a top-class attitude.
“Cal has just fitted straight into the goalkeeper group and will provide serious competition this season.
“We are looking forward to watching him grow and keep developing with us.”
Hornets boss Moore added: “He’s another young man making his way in the game. He has a real desire to learn, get better and has the attributes to become an outstanding keeper.
“Carl works so hard with the keepers, and Cal is only going to benefit from this and has a bright future ahead of him.”
