Callum Spooner returns to Hyde United

Hyde United have confirmed that Callum Spooner has returned to the club from Southport.

The 26-year-old midfielder departed for the National League North outfit in the summer, after making 103 appearances for the Tigers.

He featured 13 times for Southport, but will now link back up with his father and manager Nick Spooner once again in the Northern Premier League.

Spooner made his second debut for the club on Tuesday evening as Hyde United fell to a 3-2 defeat away at Ilkeston Town.

On returning to the club, Spooner said: "I wanted to make the move up [to the National League North] in the summer, which I did, but it just didn't quite feel right to me from early on, I was always checking the results [of Hyde United].

"I just want to hopefully kick on from where I left off, and to start enjoying my football again.

“It feels a little bit like home - there was times where I realised that I'd missed it and I had a great time here so hopefully that can continue back here now, and going forward this season.”
