City of Liverpool sack manager after eight games in charge

City of Liverpool have parted ways with manager Kevin Lynch by mutual consent.

The former Prescot Cables boss lasted just 50 days in the role, having taken over from Paul McNally in mid November.

He arrived with the club four points from safety in the NPL West Division.

However, Lynch lost all eight of his games in charge - scoring eight goals and conceding 28 during that time - and the Purps now find themselves 16 points from safety at the end of the calendar year.

Lynch's final game in charge was a 5-1 Boxing Day defeat at Congleton Town - the third time they have lost by four or more goals during his tenure.

In a statement on social media confirming Lynch's departure, the club said: "We regret to announce that we have tonight parted ways with manager Kevin Lynch by mutual consent.

“We'd like to thank Kevin for all his work and professionalism and wish him all the best for the future.”
