Wythenshawe manager steps down

Wythenshawe manager steps down

Wythenshawe manager Shane Goldrick has stepped down from his position at the club.

Goldrick leaves the NPL West Division side following back-to-back title-winning campaigns which have seen the Ammies rise from Step 6 to Step 4 of the non-league pyramid.

He departed the club following a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Wythenshawe Town on Boxing Day - a result which kept them in the bottom four, three points from safety.

On his decision to step down, Goldrick said: “I’ve given everything to this club for the last few years, and it’s time to give some time back to me and the family now.

“It’s not a decision I’ve taken lightly. What the club and myself have achieved on the resources available is amazing.

“I wish everyone the best of luck for the future, and I’ll be down supporting the club in the coming weeks as it’s time for everyone to get behind the team when they need it most.

“I just need a break, and I’ll be back.”

Wythenshawe have closed applications for the managerial vacancy, with Goldrick’s replacement set to be confirmed in the coming days.

The Ammies are back in action on January 4, when they welcome promotion-chasing Vauxhall Motors to Hollyhedge Park.
