Witton Albion land ex-Premier League defender
Witton Albion have announced the impressive capture of former Burnley and Aston Villa defender Matt Lowton.
Lowton has been a free agent since leaving Burnley at the end of last season.
The 34-year-old spent eight years with the Clarets, making just short of 200 appearances.
He previously played for Sheffield United and Aston Villa - as well as featuring eight times for Huddersfield Town during a loan spell earlier this year.
Having spent time on trial at Birmingham City and Stockport County over the summer, Lowton has found a new home with Jon Macken's Pitching In NPL West Division outfit.
Albion currently sit 13th in the league table, with four wins, three draws and five defeats from their opening 12 matches.
Lowton could make his debut when his new employers travel to Newcastle Town on Saturday.
