Warrington Rylands pay tribute to former star after international call-up

Warrington Rylands have congratulated former striker Adama Sidibeh after he was called up by the Gambia national team ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Sidibeh has been named in their squad ahead of upcoming games against the Seychelles and Gabon, capping off a remarkable year for the 25-year-old.

Sidibeh joined Rylands from NWCFL side Cheadle Heath Nomads last summer and played a major role in their push for promotion during the first few months of the season.

He scored 16 goals for the Blues, catching the eye of many suitors before being offered a full-time deal by Scottish side St Johnstone, making the move north for an undisclosed fee.

Sidibeh finished the season by scoring three goals in as many games to help preserve their Scottish Premiership status for another season.

Such form has earned the prolific forward international honours, with Rylands quick to take to social media and praise their former star.

The club said: "We would like to congratulate former blue Adama Sidibeh on his first international call up to represent Gambia.

"Incredibly Proud, well done Adama."

On the news, Sidibeh said: “I am really happy and delighted to be called up. I think it is a dream for every player to play for their national country. I am really glad to get the opportunity.

"It is good for me to be part of international football. There are a lot of experienced players and that can help me going forward.

“It is a big step for me personally and I am looking forward to the experience. I look forward to these games, then taking the experience into next season with St Johnstone.”
