Veteran midfielder joins Liversedge

Liversedge have confirmed the signing of midfielder Simon Heslop following his departure from Scarborough Athletic.

The 36-year-old links up with Sedge following his departure from the National League North side.

Heslop has amassed over 450 professional appearances during his time in the game, having started his career with Barnsley.

In 2005, he signed his first professional deal with the club but only made one first team appearance during a six-year stint at Oakwell.

Heslop has featured for a number of clubs over recent years, but is perhaps best-known for his time at Oxford United and York City.

He becomes the second big name to join Liversedge in the last few days, with former Leeds United star Ross McCormack also joining the club ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

McCormack, a £12m forward during the peak of his career, will bolster Sedge's frontline as they look to recover quickly following their relegation from the Northern Premier League last time around.
