Vauxhall Motors sign National League North defender
Vauxhall Motors have pulled off the stunning signing of Warrington Town defender Mitch Duggan.
The move brings to an end Duggan's seven-year spell at Cantilever Park, during which time he made over 200 appearances for the Yellows.
He was a regular starter in the side that secured promotion to the National League North last season, making 31 appearances in total.
The former Tranmere Rovers man also provided versatility across the backline for his former club and stepped into midfield on occasion.
He has played 28 times for the Yellows this season following their promotion via the Northern Premier League play-offs, but hasn't featured since being shown a red card against National League North leaders Tamworth in early January.
A Warrington Town club statement has confirmed that an "internal investigation into discipline" following his recent sending-off was a factor in Duggan's departure.
He joins a Vauxhall Motors side battling to avoid relegation from the Pitching In NPL West Division.
They have picked up eight league wins all season and sit four points clear of second-bottom Hednesford Town, who currently occupy the final relegation place.
"I'm made up to be joining up with the lads," he said.
"I've known the gaffer for a while and I know what he'll expect from his players, so I can't wait to get going and hopefully finish the season strong."
Manager Danny Holmes said: "We're over the moon to get Mitch in the building.
"He's a born winner [and] a superb character to drive up standards. On top of all that, he's a proper player, so we're delighted to be working with him moving forward."
