Tulips sign experienced midfielder
Spalding United have confirmed the signing of midfielder Lewis Hilliard following his departure from Peterborough Sports earlier this year.
The 32-year-old began his career with Rushden & Diamonds and has since featured for St Albans City, Boston United and more recently, Yaxley.
Hilliard commented on his arrival with the Tulips and said: “I can't wait to get started and help the club push on,
“I’ve played with or against a lot of the lads so it will be great to join them again”
Spalding manager Brett Whaley also spoke on the addition of such an experienced player, he said “I’m delighted to bring Lewis to the club,
“He’s an excellent footballer who’s experience of higher level football and winning things at those levels will help us kick on from a positive start to the season.”
Spalding are currently third in the Pitching In Midlands Division with 33 points from 15 games this season.
Hilliard could be set to make his debut for the club this weekend at the Sir Halley Stewart Field as they clash with Sporting Khalsa- a side sitting one point behind in fourth.
