Trio commit to Workington
Workington AFC have announced Conor Tinnion, Dan Wordsworth and Lewis Reilly have signed new deals for the 2023-24 season.
The trio all played key parts, as the Reds won promotion to step three via the play-offs. They beat Runcorn Linnets 2-1 in the final.
Tinnion, the club captain, made 36 appearances for the club this season, scoring five goals. The last of which was the opener in their play-off semi-final against Clitheroe.
He initially signed for the club in November 2018, making his debut against Newcastle Town. He has since made 139 appearances for them.
“Really pleased to have signed on for another year,” he said.
“Last year felt like the club got what we have deserved for the last few years so hopefully we can use that momentum to push on again in the Northern Premier.
“Excited to get going as I think we have the squad to go and surprise a lot of people next season.”
Wordsworth, who joined around the same time as Tinnion, made 40 appearances for the Reds last season, scoring three goals. The last of which came in a defeat against South Shields in the FA Cup.
He commented: “I’m Delighted to be signing for another season, it was a no brainer after the successful season we had in gaining promotion.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the group can achieve in the league above.”
Finally, Reilly signed for the club ahead of the new season. He made 41 appearances for the club in total, scoring 12 goals. This includes a 99th-minute winner against Runcorn in the play-off final.
He added: "It was an easy decision for me to resign for next season following the successful year we have had.
“The manager is building something special here and hopefully we can make this season as special for the fans as last season.”
