Trafford confirm nine re-signings
Trafford FC have announced nine players who have re-signed for the 2020/21 season.
Goalkeeper Matt Cooper was the first announcement of a busy afternoon for the N/West Division side, with manager Danny Caldecott believing he has the best.
“In my opinion Coops is one of, if not the best keeper in the league,” said Caldecott.
“He has returned in fantastic shape and I am delighted he wanted to stay for the new season.”
Replacement goalkeeper Jonathan Mcilwaine has also signed a new deal with the club.
Defender Jake Kenny has put pen to paper for a new deal, alongside midfielder Ross Davidson.
On the extensions, Caldecott said: “Johnny’s agreed to come back which is excellent news. He’s also returned in very good condition and will push for the number one spot this season. We’re lucky to have two very good keepers.”
He continued: “Jake’s been flying so far in pre-season and looks really hungry to work hard. His attitude, along with the standards he’s set, have impressed.
“Ross is like no other midfielder we have; he’s brilliant with what he brings to the team. He’s athletic, physical, powerful & at times unplayable.”
Oliver Roberts, Mike Jones and Laurence Taylor have also all re-signed for next season.
““I’m very happy Oli’s committed for the upcoming season,” said Caldecott.
“He’s so much ability and if we can find a way to hit the consistency levels we know he’s capable of, he’ll be a big player for us.
“Mike has a great attitude and comes back with the bit between his teeth; if he believes in himself & stays fit, he will be one to watch.
“A big season for Loz, he’s everything you want in a midfielder; technically very good, competitive and a very good footballing brain. Hopefully he’ll stay fit and fulfil his potential.”
Lastly, the club confirmed the re-signings of Max Hazeldine and fan favourite, Chris Palmer.
“I’m delighted to have Max,” said Caldecott.
“Like others, he’s worked hard over the closed season & looks good. We’ve spoken regarding his levels & he knows what I think of him; stay focused & he’ll perform & score a lot of goals.
“I don’t think people from the outside understand just how good Palms is; we from within the club do. Not only is he a very good footballer, he’s also a great man. I am very happy to have him with us again next season.”
