Talented defender swaps Mossley for Runcorn Linnets

Runcorn Linnets have brought in defensive reinforcements with the signing of former Mossley centre-back Jack Grundy.

Grundy becomes the club's second signing of the summer - joining former Bala Town wide man Luke Wall, whose arrival was confirmed last month - as the recently-appointed Anthony Kay continues to shape his squad ahead of the new season.

The club have been keen to strengthen their backline following Kay's retirement from playing. Sean O'Mahony has also left to make the move to Australia, while fellow defender Alex Jones was released.

The 22-year-old was a virtual ever-present for his former club, having first joined on a work experience loan from Oldham Athletic in December 2019.

A permanent move followed in the summer of 2020, and Grundy celebrated his 100th appearance for the Lilywhites at the turn of the 2023/24 season.

In total, he made 34 appearances for Mossley last term as they secured a 15th-placed finish in the NPL West Division.
