'Survive then thrive' - Emley's defiant message after bright start to Step 4 return

'Survive then thrive' - Emley's defiant message after bright start to Step 4 return

Emley say they hope to "build something special" after a promising start to the NPL East Division season.

The club ended a 20-year absence to return to the Northern Premier League ranks last season, and they have gone on to enjoy a bright start to the current campaign, sitting second in the table after a run of 10 wins from their opening 16 league games.

Having suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Cleethorpes Town in a top-of-the-table clash at the end of October, they bounced back in ideal fashion on Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Heaton Stannington.

Having faced some criticism online in the wake of their recent defeat to Cleethorpes, the club have issued an open letter to supporters, explaining their current situation and plans moving forward.

It read: "After years of hard work and commitment, we achieved our ambitious five-year goal of moving up to the Northern Premier League (NPL).

"Reaching this level was no small feat, and a testament to the dedication of our management, players, and the unwavering support of our fans.

"This season, we’re holding our own in a highly competitive environment, adjusting to new challenges and finding our feet at this elevated level.

"Winning every game isn’t realistic at this stage, but progress is very much underway, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come.

"The coaching team and players have been skilfully navigating injuries and suspensions, adjusting as needed to keep our squad competitive each week.

"We ask our loyal fans to be mindful in how we express our shared passion online and in conversation.

"This club has a bright future, and positivity from the stands, in person and online, strengthens us all.

"As a team and a community, we’re united in our goal to 'survive then thrive' at this level.

"After 20 years of hard work to return to the NPL, we’re here to stay and build something special. We are grateful for every cheer, every show of support, and every loyal fan that stands behind us as we continue this journey together."

The Pewits will look to build on last weekend's win when Garforth Town visit the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday.
