Stockton Town boost goalkeeper ranks
Northern Premier League newcomers Stockton Town have confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Elliott Stephenson after a successful trial period.
The 24-year-old spent his youth career at Sunderland and has also been on the books at both Hartlepool United and South Shields.
On his arrival, Stephenson said: “To be honest, the move came about out of the blue, I haven’t been in football for a few years now and wanted to get back into it.
“I was referred by a friend to the lads here and came along for a few sessions, ended up getting a chance to play during a few pre-season games and the rest followed on from there.
“I’m honestly buzzing to get an opportunity here. It’s a great environment at the club and I’m glad to be a part of it.
“The lads have been great, all welcoming and supportive throughout. I can’t wait to push on now and see where we get this season.”
Stockton Town manager Michael Dunwell said: “I’m pleased to sign Elliott after he has impressed in pre-season games and training.
“He comes from a good pedigree at Sunderland, Hartlepool and South Shields, and will provide great competition and cover for Nathan Harker.”
