Stafford Rangers announce one departure as loan move continues for forward
Stafford Rangers have confirmed that Ben Woods has left the club, while winger Niah Payne will remain at Pitchin In NPL East Division side Ossett United on loan until the end of the season.
The announcement brings an end to Woods’ second stint with the club, having spent a year at Rangers during the 2021/22 campaign.
The left-back, 26, recently re-joined from Guiseley at the start of the current season but now leaves in search of more regular game time after making 23 league appearances in total, scoring once.
Another who will be away from Marston Road for the remainder of the season is forward option Payne.
The 26-year-old has had his initial month-long loan extended after impressing Ossett boss David Brown.
He made his first start for the club in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Belper Town.
The winger made 24 Northern Premier League appearances for Rangers prior to leaving on loan, scoring twice, but will now finish the season in West Yorkshire as Ossett look to ensure their survival in the NPL East Division.
The Ramicorns face Liversedge on Tuesday, ahead of a big game at the bottom of the table away at Grantham Town on Saturday.
Stafford, meanwhile, host Workington this Saturday as they continue to fight for survival in the Northern Premier League, with a three-point gap still separating them and Basford United, who occupy the final position of safety.
