Stadium upgrade follows promotion
Scarborough Athletic fans are looking forward to enjoying their football at an even bigger and better home after winning promotion to the EVO-STIK League's top flight.
The EVO-STIK League North runners-up used an end of season forum for fans to announce plans to increase the capacity of the Flamingo Land Stadium to over 4,000, upgrade their clubhouse and open a new 'Boro Hub' in the town.
SAFC TV was filming for fans who couldn't attend as Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull outlined the ambitious plans last week, almost a year after the Seadogs returned home to move into a brand new stadium after playing in exile for more than a decade in Bridlington.
Steve Kittrick's side have been attracting huge gates all season to help finance developing the ground in two phases. Stage one involves the development of the 'Donkey Field' side of the stadium, increasing the capacity by 1,600, including 596 new seats and terracing for a further 1,414 fans.
Stage 2 will see tiered standing installed behind the swimming pool end of the stadium, including a four step terrace behind the goal and an eight step terrace adjacent to the main stand, taking the capacity up another 400 to a total of 4,040.
