Stadium boss stands down

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Bedworth United have thanked their stadium manager for Barry Walker for all his hard work and dedication after he stood down.

Walker was hailed by officials at the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South club on Wednesday after relinquishing his position at The Oval to concentrate on his other interests and spend more time with family and friends.

Walker is looking forward to carrying on as groundsman following the return of the Greenbacks to the EVO-STIK NPL and will be succeeded in the full-time post by Andrew Stickley, the club's football secretary who will combine both roles.

A Greenbacks spokesman said: "Bedworth United would like to thank Barry Walker for his hard work and dedication. Barry will however continue in his role as groundsman. His maintenance and upkeep of the playing surface has been top class and deserves praise and the club is delighted he will continue in this important role.

"The club has held a number of interviews with prospective candidates to hold the position of full-time stadium manager and after consideration can announce that as from August our new incumbent will be Andy Stickley. We welcome Andy to his new position at Bedworth United, adding to his role as football secretary, as we continue to move our community club forward."
