Blyth Spartans boss Alun Armstrong is hailing the bond between the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League leaders and their fans.

Spartans players embracing their supporters at full-time has been the hallmark of the promotion hunters all season, pictured, and Armstrong believes the bond could take the North East club all the way to the title.

Before seeing his side score their 24th goal in six wins on the spin in a 2-0 win at Warrington Town on Tuesday night after a 5-0 victory at Ilkeston at the weekend, he said: “We’re a tight-knit club. There’s a special relationship between the fans and the players and management - we’re showing that with our results.

“You’ve got to be happy with winning 5-0 away from home. It was a good performance and we’ve got a little cushion. We’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing. It’s about us and nobody else."

Armstrong's side host Hednesford Town on Saturday before making the difficult trip to Stourbridge the following Saturday and he added: “I’ll keep saying it, the league is never won in February. There’s nearly three months left and every point counts.”
