South Shields striker joins league above
South Shields forward Sam Hodgson has joined Blyth Spartans on an initial 28-day loan.
The young forward came through the Mariners academy system before breaking into the first team during the 2021/22 season, scoring nine goals in 24 appearances.
He has featured 13 times in all competitions this term, netting three times.
Now he will have the chance to impress at National League North level, with Blyth currently second-bottom and fighting to avoid relegation.
“It’s great. Obviously it’s a step up from South Shields, but there’s a few familiar faces so I’m looking forward to it,” Hodgson said.
I’m close to the gaffer still, so as soon as I knew there was a bit of interest I wanted to get working with him again.”
