Rylands boss signs new contract

Warrington Rylands manager Michael Clegg has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

He and assistant Nicky Hunt will now remain with the Blues until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Since taking charge at Gorsey Lane in mid-February, former Ashton United boss Clegg has overseen five wins from 10, with two draws and three defeats during that time.

They are also unbeaten at home since he was named as Jody Banim's successor.

Rylands have won three league matches in a row and will look to extend that further at home to Whitby Town on Saturday.

On signing the new deal, Clegg said: "I'm delighted, and it was a no-brainer.

"Tuesday [a 3-0 victory at Radcliffe] was a great night for us all, and it's what we've been working towards performance-wise.

"Performances have generally been good, the mood in the camp has been good. We're wanting to keep a lot of this year's squad for next season, so that's the next project now."
