Runcorn Linnets announce Hooper return
Runcorn Linnets have announced that forward James Hooper has re-joined the club following a spell in Australia.
The 26-year-old - formerly of Rochdale, Stockport County, Salford City and Carlisle United, amongst others - returns to a familiar setting at the APEC Taxis Stadium following a stint with Moreland City, who are based in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg.
During his time Down Under, he featured in the National Premier League Victoria - one of eight semi-professional state-based competitions at Step 2 level, immediately below the elite A-league.
In 18 appearances for Moreland City, he scored three goals and assisted once.
International clearance has been obtained for his transfer to Linnets, meaning Hooper goes straight into contention for Friday's trip to Bootle in the Pitching In NPL West Division.
He first joined Linnets last season, working under former manager Dave Wild, with current boss Billy Paynter as his assistant.
During his initial spell in yellow and green, he bagged three goals in 13 appearances before departing for West Didsbury & Chorlton.
