Radcliffe begin work on new £2.4 million 3G facility

Radcliffe have commenced the construction of their brand-new 3G facility at Redbank playing fields.

The state-of-the-art project has been in the planning stages for the previous three years, with funding primarily coming from the Premier League, The Football Foundation and Bury Council.

Under the umbrella of the Radcliffe regeneration project, led by the Bury Council, it will aim to completely redevelop the Radcliffe Juniors’ home at Redbank playing fields with new parking infrastructure, changing facilities and clubhouse.

As a result, the pitch will bring new opportunities for local residents to improve their physical and mental well-being, while creating a more streamlined pathway between the Radcliffe Juniors and the first team.

Construction of the facility is expected to finish in June 2024, with the site becoming available to use in the same month.

On the project, Radcliffe chairman Paul Hilton said: “We are delighted that work has now begun on this exciting new facility. The Redbank site will be an incredible asset to the Town allowing the Club to continue to accelerate our progress while enhancing sporting participation for all.

“Today would not be possible without the incredible backing and support of Bury Council who have supported our Club and this project from the outset, we are proud to work together with them to deliver this important community facility.

“Radcliffe Juniors are going from strength to strength and providing our community with high quality, affordable football for all ages of children this facility allows that growth and provision to reach its potential. Whether it be girls, boys or mixed football all are welcome at our incredible junior section.

“Together, Radcliffe FC and Radcliffe Juniors strive to be a positive force of pride in the Radcliffe community through our on-field success, youth participation levels and importantly, through our community work and this project is another endorsement of those values in action.

“Football is a powerful tool that helps us break down barriers and inspire the next generation and we take that responsibility seriously.”
