Prescot Cables sign defender from NPL West Division champions

Prescot Cables have announced the signing of talented defender Julius Ndene.

The 21-year-old joins the club following his departure from last season's NPL West Division champions Leek Town.

Ndene marks the first signing since Steven Daley’s return to the dugout at Valerie Park, having initially left a week earlier after a remarkable sequence of events which saw Dave Dempsey take charge before issuing his resignation less than 72 hours later.

Daley’s reinstatement as Cables boss saw the subsequent return of a number of former players, notably captain Lee Hollett and forward Ben Elliott.

However, following American defender Nathan Koehler’s move to National League North side Marine, the club have turned to Ndene to fill the gap in defence.

The centre-back spent his youth career at Stoke, and last season made 41 appearances for Leek as they finished 10 points clear at the top of the division.

There, he was a mainstay of a defence which conceded just 44 goals on their way to winning the title.
