Prescot Cables part ways with management duo

Prescot Cables have announced that manager Steven Daley and assistant Peter Cuminskey have left the club with immediate effect.

The Bulls are midway through their pre-season preparations, but there will be a new man in the dugout at the start of the new Northern Premier League campaign.

A club statement read: “Prescot Cables Football Club wishes to inform supporters that Steven Daley and Peter Cuminskey have stepped down from their roles with immediate effect.

“Following an evaluation of the club’s financial obligations for the upcoming season and our projected outgoings, it has become clear that our initial agreed budget is not sustainable.

"The long term sustainability of the club will always be our first priority.

“We thank both Steven and Peter for their enormous contribution to the club since their appointment in February 2023.”

After guiding the Bulls to safety during his first few months in charge, Daley led Cables to promotion to the Northern Premier League the following season, defeating City of Liverpool 2-0 in the NPL West Division play-off final.

The majority of their promotion-winning side agreed new contracts for the 2023/24 season, with the addition of Michael Carberry, Brandon Newell and Andy Scarisbrick to boost them ahead of the jump to Step 3.

However, a raft of players have left following the departure of the popular manager, including captain Lee Hollett.

It has also been confirmed that Lee Dowd, Kyle Sambor, Ben Elliott and the aforementioned Newell and Scarisbrick will all leave the club.

Cables, along with the rest of the Northern Premier League, will find out their season schedules this coming Thursday, ahead of the new season commencing on August 10.
