Pontefract manager resigns after three years in charge

Pontefract Collieries have announced the departure of manager Craig Rouse.

Rouse has resigned from his role at the club following the conclusion of a 2023/24 season which saw them reach the NPL East Division play-offs after successive mid-table finishes, as well as winning the West Riding Senior County Cup for the first time in the club's history.

He spent time at Colls as a player and assistant manager earlier in his career before taking charge in January 2021, replacing Andy Monkhouse.

Paying tribute to their outgoing manager, a Pontefract club statement praised Rouse for his remarkable efforts at the club.

It said: "Despite our best efforts to persuade him otherwise, he has decided to move on. His commitment and hard work have been undeniable during his time as our manager, assistant manager and when he was a player.

"We extend our sincere gratitude to Craig for the unforgettable moments he and his team have provided during his tenure."
