Ossett United part ways with manager

Grant Black has left his position as manager of Ossett United with immediate effect, the club have confirmed.

Black took charge in October 2022 and went on to oversee 51 competitive games - winning 14 times, drawing 16 and losing 21.

He led Ossett United to a 15th-placed in the Pitching In NPL East Division last season, but they have failed to make any further headway climbing the league table this time around.

They have just 19 points to show from their opening 18 matches, and Black's final game in charge was a 4-1 home defeat to Sheffield FC on Saturday.

The club say an announcement regarding his successor will be made in due course.

Prior to arriving at Ingfield, Black spent four years in charge of Belper Town and led the Nailers to promotion to the Northern Premier League during the 2021/22 season.

However, they won just one of their opening seven league games at Step 3 level during the campaign that followed, and the club announced that they had "reluctantly parted ways" with Black.

He previously enjoyed success with Ossett Town, taking them from relegation candidates to a play-off final within the space of 16 months before leaving in 2018 to link up with Belper.
