NPL round-up | Stockton hit five to climb out of relegation places
Stockton Town delivered a statement performance to brush aside Bamber Bridge 5-2 in the only NPL Premier Division contest of the weekend, taking advantage of FA Cup action to lift themselves out of the drop zone.
The Anchors claimed just their second victory of the campaign, and first since August 22 against Alfreton Town, with a ruthless display in front of their home fans at the MAP Group UK Stadium.
Jake Petitjean opened their account in the 13th minute, before a quickfire brace from Joshua Scott on the stroke of half-time effectively put the game to bed before the interval.
Captain Adam Nicholson added a fourth after converting Petitjean’s cross short after the hour mark.
However, two goals in a matter of minutes for the Brig late on provided some hope of a remarkable turnaround.
But when 17-year-old Callum Bone rounded the keeper and kept his composure to power home two minutes from time, Michael Dunwell’s side were able to celebrate a vital win following a poor start to the campaign.
Jamie Milligan’s Bamber Bridge were unable to build on a crucial win against Alfreton Town last time out, leaving them a point and place above the hosts in 17th.
The Brig also remain without a victory on the road in 2026/27, picking up a solitary point in five matches.
Both sides return to action next weekend in the FA Trophy, having been drawn away from home in third round qualifying.
