NPL preview | Saturday 30 November
As we head towards the festive period in the Northern Premier League, the action continues to come thick and fast, with 10 games taking place this weekend.
Macclesfield tasted defeat for the first time in the league this season in midweek, losing 2-1 away at Mickleover.
The Silkmen are on their travels again and will be looking to avoid a second loss in the space of a few days against a Workington side who climbed into the top half on Tuesday after a 2-0 win over Basford United.
Mickleover, who moved out of the bottom four with their victory on Tuesday, will be aiming to put further ground between themselves and the relegation places when they head to Broadhurst Park to take on FC United of Manchester.
FC United are still the only side yet to win in front of their home fans, amassing three draws and five defeats from their eight home league games so far.
A win for Mark Beesley’s side would see them move within two points of their visitors, with a couple of games in hand.
Elsewhere, second-placed Guiseley host Warrington Rylands, who fell into the bottom four after Tuesday’s results.
Guiseley are searching for their fifth win in a row as they look to apply some pressure to leaders Macclesfield.
Elsewhere, third hosts fourth as Worksop Town welcome Stockton Town to Sandy Lane.
Both sides will be eager to pick up three points which would see them retain their top-five berth and keep the chasing pack at bay.
Hebburn Town, who currently occupy the final play-off spot, travel to Ilkeston Town, who are right behind them in sixth.
Only two points separate the sides going into this weekend's clash.
Ian Deakin’s Robins will be aiming for a win to keep their unbeaten home record alive whilst leapfrogging the visitors with a win.
Towards the foot of the table, Blyth Spartans will be hoping to build on Michael Connor’s first point in charge of the club in midweek when they host Hyde United.
Bamber Bridge are another who will be hoping to rise up the table following the draw at Blyth. This weekend, they host Leek Town.
Meanwhile, two of the form sides in the division go head-to-head as Morpeth Town welcome Matlock Town to Craik Park.
Despite losing their last two, Morpeth still have four wins in their last six, while Ryan Cresswell’s Gladiators have three wins and a draw to show from their games during the same time, including a resounding 4-0 win over Blyth last time out.
Basford United will be aiming to pick up their form after four losses in their last six when they travel to an Ashton United side who are keen to keep pace with the play-offs.
And Whitby Town will be hoping to pick up a second straight league win against Lancaster City, who have only lost one in their last eight, picking up four draws in that time.
All games are set to kick off at 3pm, unless otherwise stated.
