NPL preview | Brig visit Anchors in only weekend game at Step 3

NPL preview | Brig visit Anchors in only weekend game at Step 3

Bamber Bridge travel to Stockton Town in the only NPL Premier Division contest of the weekend.

This is due to the majority of other clubs in the league looking to progress in FA Cup second round qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

It is a battle of struggling sides at the MAP Group UK Stadium, with hosts Stockton sitting bottom of the table and Bamber Bridge only four points above them in 17th.

Stockton, beaten play-off semi-finalists last season, dropped to the foot of the division following a 1-1 draw with Warrington Rylands last weekend - after previous basement incumbents FC United of Manchester claimed their first league victory to climb above them.

Michael Dunwell’s men are yet to win since their solitary victory against Alfreton Town on August 22, while the visitors will be feeling relieved after a 1-0 triumph against the same opposition on Saturday.

James Butterworth’s 83rd minute header was enough to clinch three points and provide the perfect response to a disappointing FA Cup exit against Trafford, giving the Brig their first win in seven across all competitions.

Jamie Milligan’s side can climb to 12th by securing their third win of the 2026/27 campaign.

Another three points for Stockton, who exited the FA Cup to fellow NPL Premier Division side Guiseley, would lift them out of the relegation zone.
