Notts County defender joins Basford on loan

Basford United have brought in defender Archie Aves on loan until the end of the season.

Aves, captain of Notts County's B team, made his senior debut in November during the Magpies' EFL Trophy victory over Leicester City's U21s.

The commanding centre-back, 20, will be available for selection ahead of this weekend's FA Trophy fourth round tie against National League side Eastleigh.

Newly-appointed Lions boss Luke Potter has wasted no time in re-shaping the squad following his appointment at the end of December, with Aves becoming his first signing since replacing Martin Carruthers.

Kevin Da Silva Bastos and Jacob Gratton also joined the club shortly before Christmas, the latter suffering an unfortunate injury early into his debut against Leek Town which will sideline him for between 4-6 weeks.

Despite a difficult six-game losing run in the league, Basford will look to refocus in the FA Trophy on Saturday when National League opposition visit Greenwich Avenue.
