New faces bolster FC United squad
FC United of Manchester have welcomed two new additions to their squad ahead of Saturday's home game against Marine.
Ex-Preston North End midfielder Aaron Bennett has linked up with the Reds following a brief spell in the National League North with Warrington Town.
He made 20 appearances in total for Town, scoring his only goal on
what proved to be his final appearance for the club in their recent Cheshire Senior Cup win over Ashville.
“Aaron is an attacking midfielder who comes with a great pedigree," manager Neil Reynolds said.
"A graduate of Preston North End’s academy and capped for Wales at U19 level, he spent most of last season on loan at Altrincham before making the move to Warrington Town in the summer.
"We’re delighted to have Aaron on board, and we think he’ll add another dimension to our play in the attacking third."
Bennett links up with former Yellows team-mate Jordan Buckley, who arrived at Broadhurst Park at the end of November for an undisclosed fee.
He is not the only new arrival of the week either, with Tranmere Rovers left-back Mikey Davies joining on an initial one-month loan.
The 19-year-old signed a first professional deal with his boyhood club in the summer following his time at their Education Hub.
“Mikey will give us some much-needed depth at the back," Reynolds added.
"He made his professional debut in the EFL Trophy last month, and we’re pleased that Rovers have put their trust in us to play a role in Mikey’s development."
FC United will also welcome back midfielder Michael Donohue from suspension ahead of Saturday as they go in search of a second successive win.
They currently sit 14th in the Northern Premier League, seven points off the play-off spots.
