Morpeth Town reveal retained list
Morpeth Town have revealed their retained list following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.
A number of players were already under contract with the club ahead of the new campaign, with Jack Foalle, Josh King and Josh Robson also agreeing terms following discussions with manager Craig Lynch.
Andrew Johnson and Chris Reid also remain in negotiations over a new deal.
The club have, however, confirmed the departure of Sam Hodgson and Ben Ramsey.
Ramsey made 72 appearances for the Highwaymen, scoring eight goals in his time at Craik Park.
Midfielder Hodgson featured 103 times for the club, scoring three times. However, he spent the entirety of the 2022/23 season on the sidelines as he continued his recovery from a serious injury sustained at Basford United the season before.
“I felt it was time for Ben to move on to play regular football," manager Craig Lynch said. "Ben had been a great part of the dressing room and is a great lad who needs regular minutes to help him succeed.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t offer him that over the past few seasons. We all wish him all the best in the future.
“Sam has been a key part of the squad in the five years I have been here, playing a vital part in the league and cup double and leading up to his injury in the 2012/22 season.
“We gave Sam the opportunity last season to continue with us throughout his rehab hoping he could return which unfortunately has not happened yet, and we have decided it’s best for both parties that Sam continues his rehab closer to home.
“Sam has been a great person in the dressing room and I hope to see him back on the pitch soon. He is always welcome back.”
Several on-loan players, including Sam Fishburn, Matty Cornish, Connor Pye, Fenton John and Tom Chiabi, have all returned to their parent clubs.
