Midfielder swaps Matlock for Basford
Basford United have announced the signing of Ethan Cartwright from Matlock Town ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The 22-year-old midfielder joined the Gladiators earlier this year following a move from Guiseley.
Cartwright made 17 appearances for Matlock and played a role in their playoff-chasing run.
The former Walsall and Chester player links back up with Basford United boss Steve Kittrick, with the pair working together at Belper Town and Guiseley.
"Having worked with Ethan at a number of clubs in the past, he’s someone we wanted to bring in early on and we’re happy to have done that," Kittrick said.
"A box-to-box player with a terrific engine and an eye for goal, he compliments our current crop of midfielders perfectly.
"It didn’t quite work out at Matlock Town – whom he joined halfway through last season – but their loss is certainly our gain and Pottsy and I are thrilled to be working with him again."
