Michael Clegg returns to Atherton Collieries

Atherton Collieries have announced the re-appointment of Michael Clegg as their manager, following the departure of Dave Chadwick.

Clegg, 47, departed the Colls in 2019 after five years and 300 games in charge.

Since then, he has enjoyed managerial spells with Ashton United, Warrington Rylands and most recently, Macclesfield.

An experienced coach at various levels of non-league, Clegg guided Atherton Collieries to three promotions during his tenure, as well as cup successes in the North West Counties Football League Cup, NPL League Cup and Bolton Hospital Cup.

On his return to the club, Clegg said: "I feel like this is my home, this is my town and this is a club I want to make successful again."

Clegg's first game back in charge will be a trip to Consett AFC in the Northern Premier League West Division this Saturday.
