Michael Clegg makes first two signings as Colls boss
Atherton Collieries have announced the return of forward Tom Bentham and midfielder Ethan Kershaw.
The pair become the club's first two signings since manager Michael Clegg was appointed for his second spell in charge last week.
Striker Bentham was a key member of Clegg's 2018/19 title-winning squad, scoring 19 goals - including a historic six against Kendal Town.
In total, he notched 34 goals in 68 games for the club.
Bentham has since featured for Trafford and Wythenshawe Town, helping the latter to promotion from the NWCFL last season.
He has hit the ground running this term, scoring four goals in his first five appearances.
Their second new arrival sees midfielder Kershaw return to the Dreams2Reality Stadium.
During his first spell at Colls, he amassed 78 appearances over two seasons, scoring four goals.
Following his departure in 2022, Kershaw has gone on to represent Stalybridge Celtic, Barnoldswick, Clitheroe and more recently Avro.
On the new signings, Clegg said: "Bringing Tommy back is a no-brainer. He is a top number nine and is bringing more than goals.
"He is an unbelievable lad and is wanting to dip his toe into coaching as well.
"Tom’s goal-scoring record speaks for itself. It's something we've been missing, and he will be huge for us.
"Kersh is always someone who has done well against my teams when we have played against him.
“He has so much energy and he has quality. He also knows what it means to play for Colls, and as soon as the opportunity came around, it was perfect for everyone.”
