Matlock Town announce sudden departure of midfielder

Matlock Town have confirmed that experienced midfielder Connor Dimaio has left the club.

Dimaio only returned to the club last month following a spell at Bradford Park Avenue.

In doing so, he became one of the first arrivals after Ryan Cresswell was appointed as manager following the departure of Nicky Law.

He went on to make three starts for the Gladiators, the most recent of which came in a goalless draw at Whitby Town on September 28.

During his first stint at the club, Dimaio suffered a serious knee injury which required surgery, forcing him to endure a long spell on the sidelines.

He made his return to playing prior to the end of last season, before joining Avenue over the summer.

The captain's armband was given to Dimaio, who featured in each of their NPL East Division games before completing a return to Matlock.

A club statement read: "We can confirm that following discussions with the management team, Connor Dimaio has left the club to get more game time elsewhere.

"We wish Connor and his family all the very best for the future."
