Macclesfield legend unveiled as new Bradford Park Avenue boss
Bradford Park Avenue have appointed former Macclesfield boss Danny Whitaker as their new manager.
He replaces Mark Bower, who parted ways with the club in early November after four years in charge.
During his playing days, Whitaker made over 450 appearances for Macclesfield Town over two spells, helping them secure promotion to the Football League.
He was appointed as the first-ever manager of the reformed Macclesfield, guiding them to promotion in 2021/22 and playing a major role in their positive start to last season - winning eight of his 11 league matches before being relieved of his duties in October 2022, with the Silkmen three points clear at the top of the Pitching In NPL West Division with a game in-hand on the teams below them at the time.
His first game in charge of Avenue, who currently sit a point above the Northern Premier League relegation zone, will come at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday.
A Bradford Park Avenue statement said: "Danny has an awesome record of success in both his playing and managerial career. He understands player development and has a winning mentality.
"He has legendary status at Macclesfield, his last position, and has been in extensive discussions for a few days about the current position and future opportunities here.
"He watched our game on Saturday as a further assessment, and starts his new role at training this week.
"Danny addresses our wish for a leader who is experienced at, above and below this level. He fully understands our desire to develop young academy players with talent and has good contacts in the game.
"Danny will work full-time at the club and will be heavily involved in the academy project."
