Leek Town sign South African goalkeeper

Experienced goalkeeper Dino Visser has been unveiled as Leek Town's latest signing.

Visser began his career with Platinum Stars in his native South Africa, making his Premier Soccer League debut in March 2011.

The vastly-experienced shot-stopper also played for Bloemfontein Celtic, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.

He was the regular first-team goalkeeper at Santos during the 2016/17 season and earned a move back to Platinum Stars for the following season, despite suffering relegation from the National First Division.

Visser moved to England in June 2019 and signed a short-term deal at Exeter City.

After spells with Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale, he joined Hereford in September 2022 and soon became the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

He made 22 appearances in all competitions before being released by new Bulls manager Paul Caddis at the end of last season.

Discussing the club's latest arrival, Blues manager Josh Brehaut said: "I am delighted that we have captured Dino's signature.

"He is vastly experienced and will be a key addition to the squad. I am sure everyone at the club will make him very welcome."

Chairman Jon Eeles said: "We met Dino last season and very nearly signed him before Danny Roberts returned from injury, but Hereford, who are a higher division than us, beat us to it.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Leek Town shirt."

Leek are currently fifth in the Pitching In NPL West Division but have only kept two clean sheets all season - both of which have come in their last four matches.

The Blues visit third-placed Clitheroe on Saturday.
