Leek Town defender on the move
Hednesford Town have signed Leek Town defender Olly Harrison for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old started his career at Crewe Alexandra, rising through the ranks before having a short spell in Sweden with IKF Ostersund.
He returned to the UK towards the end of the 2018/19 season, joining Leek.
Ever since, the strong and imposing defender has been a virtual everpresent for the Blues, making just short of 200 appearances.
Harrison was named in the NPL West Division for three years running, and has also previously been shortlisted for the league’s Youth Player of the Year award.
He helped Leek to the West Division title last season and has gone on to make 14 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring twice.
Hednesford Town director of football Andrew Reed said: “As a club, we are delighted to get Ollie in the building. Olly is an imposing and accomplished centre-half whose previous success matches our ambition for this season.
“It hasn’t been a simple process. Steve [King, manager] has been working tirelessly to bring in defensive reinforcements, and the team has done fantastically well to make this happen.
“Hopefully it brings us one step closer to our goal this year.”
Harrison wasn’t eligible to make his debut in the FA Cup on Saturday as the Pitmen came from behind to take National League giants Gateshead to a replay.
He could enjoy his first taste of action when Hednesford visit NPL West Division leaders Widnes next weekend.
