Lancaster boss signs new two-year deal
Lancaster City Jimmy Marshall and his management team have committed to the club until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Marshall was appointed back in April and he has the Dolly Blues in contention for the play-off places in the Northern Premier League Premier Division in his first full season in charge.
His management team Gavin Clark and Lee Marshall have also agreed extensions, with the Dolly Blues directors ‘delighted’ with the news.
Jimmy said: “We are delighted to lead Lancaster City for another two years and can’t thank everyone enough for their support so far. We feel it’s exciting times ahead for the club and are willing to work hard to build on the progress the club has made so far whilst we have been here.
“It’s been a really enjoyable spell at the club so far for us and all the Directors, staff and volunteers have been a pleasure to work with along with a fantastic group of players.
“Our relationship with the supporters is fantastic and one we hope to build on and keep increasing attendances. We’d like to thank all supporters for their continued backing and also the Board of Directors for giving the us the opportunity to manage our hometown club and now enabling us to carry that work on and showing their faith in us.”
Lancaster find themselves four points off the play-off places, and they have eight games of the season remaining, starting with Saturday’s trip to Whitby Town.
Crowds continue to grow at The Giant Axe too, with an average of 645 through the gates this season, including a season-high of 1,003.
A club statement from the club’s board added: “The Board would like to place on record its appreciation for the dedication shown by Jimmy and his staff. Their willingness to work within the club’s financial framework while continuing to push for progress on the pitch has earned them the full respect and backing of everyone associated with Lancaster City.
“The Directors believe that stability and continuity are vital for the club’s long-term development. Securing a two-year commitment from the current management team provides an important foundation as the club continues to build for the future.
“Supporters have also played a significant role during this period, and the Board recognises the strong relationship that has developed between the management team and the fanbase. The passion and backing from the terraces at the Giant Axe continue to drive the club forward, and the management team share that same commitment to representing the city with pride.
“The Directors are therefore extremely pleased that Jimmy, Gavin, and Lee have committed their futures to Lancaster City and are excited about what lies ahead. With their continued leadership, the club looks forward to building on the progress made so far and continuing to move forward both on and off the pitch.”
