Kielen Adams returns to Macclesfield
Macclesfield FC have confirmed the return of former forward Kielen Adams to the Leasing.com Stadium.
The 23-year-old was a part of the side that won the NWCFL Premier Division during the 2021/22 season, scoring seven times throughout the campaign.
Last season, Adams made 39 appearances for Northern Premier League side Ashton United and netted eight times for the Robins.
He becomes Robbie Savage’s eighth summer signing since taking over from Michael Clegg in June.
On his arrival, Adams said: “I’m delighted. This is a big club with big aspirations, and I can’t wait to get going.
“I like to think I’m the same kind of player [to the one who played for the club previously]. I’ll bring power, pace and goals, but there’s more maturity to my game now.
“[Pre-season] has been tough, but I feel good. I can’t wait for the games now, because that’s where the real tests lie.”
Adams’ signing follows on from a busy weekend which saw the Silkmen announce the arrival of goalkeeping duo Max Dearnley and Tom Scott.
Former Marine and Ashton forward Adams will be mentored by ex-Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey, who recently joined the club as first team coach.
On the prospect of continuing his development under the vastly experienced Heskey, Adams added: “It’s a great opportunity to learn off the likes of Emile.
“He likes us to receive on the back foot, relieve the pressure and put the defender in a scenario where he either needs to bring me down or let me through on goal. Then it’s just about keeping calm in front of goal and slotting it away.
“It’s great for the forward lads to have someone like him to teach us.”
Adams goes straight into contention to feature against a Blackburn Rovers XI on Saturday as Savage’s squad begin their pre-season fixture schedule.
